Aid to Armenia is excited to welcome our newest volunteer, Spencer May. Spencer is a 3rd generation Armenian from Napa, California. He came to Armenia in March of 2015 as a volunteer with Birthright Armenia. Just prior to coming to Armenia, he completed his training and became certified as a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician. With his medical training he is a perfect fit as an instructor for Aid to Armenia.
After doing field training with AtA Director Jamie Kolar, he taught his first class in the Armenian village of Karaket on May 5th, 2015. He has a natural ability and passion for teaching which helps him to get the village participants engaged during the hands on training. We are excited to have him join the Aid to Armenia team and look forward to the positive impact that he is going to make on the lives of Armenian villagers.
When Spencer was asked about why he wanted to volunteer with Aid to Armenia he said "I want to help Aid to Armenia because simple interventions can make huge differences during emergencies. Coming to Armenia as a volunteer I wanted to build connections with people all over Armenia - education is an incredible vehicle for this because it connects and empowers everyone involved."
